Bir Sâlim’in elinden tutmak

Şöyle cevapladı, Fahr-i Rusül (sallallahu aleyhi ve sellem):

Hanımının sevip değer verdiği küçük Sâlim’i, Ebû Huzeyfe de sevmişti.

“Kur’ân’ı şu dört kişiden alınız: Übeyy İbn-i Ka’b, Muâz İbn-i Cebel, Ebû Huzeyfe’nin azatlısı Sâlim ve Abdullah İbn-i Mes’ûd!”

Hâne-i saâdetlerine döndüğünde, “Bu, Sâlim’dir!” buyurdular ve ilave ettiler:

“Ümmetim içinde bunun gibileri var eden Allah’a hamd olsun!”

Kardeşi Velîd’in kızıyla evlendirmek istemişti onu, Ebû Huzeyfe (radıyallahu anh). Bunu duyan Mekke, o gün neredeyse ayağa kalktı; torununu kastederek, “Kureyş’in kudretli adamı Utbe’nin kızını, kölelikten gelen birisi ile nasıl evlendirirsin?” diyorlardı!

  2. Taking by the hand of a Sâlim
One day the Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon him) ordered, “There’s no doubt that there are the ones who are close to Allah among people”
They immediately asked him by the companion reflex:
“Who are they? o the messenger of Allah!”

The much-praised one among the prophets (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon him) answered like that:

“They, who are the friends and the pure servants of Allah, are the people of Quran”

Sâlim who was freed by Ebû Huzeyfe was one of them too.

Had come into world in a prosperous family atmosphere in the Istahr city of Persia, his Holiness Sâlim (May Allah be pleased with him). They were busy with trade and agriculture; like most people they did have immense dreams, beautiful plans for the future too. So until their city got invaded!

Everything had just suddenly changed! That prosperous family of yesterday, was now messed up.

The trading people in visiting market by market, hereinafter had just become capital for the same markets.

Sâlim who was plucked off from his family, first was sold as a slave to a man from the Kelb tribe. Then someone else, and another. Just at that moment the destiny brought him to Yesrib as the slave of Sellâm İbn-i Cübeyr from the jewish tribe Benî Kurayza.

The passing through a door by another had continued here too. Finally, a woman who was called Sübeyte bought him

Sübeyte started loving the young Sâlim like her own child; she was not discriminating him in favor of her own children and she was almost not leaving him alone at all.

He’d been treated as a human and he had begun to see humanity.

    And it continued.

The marriage that Sübeyte did, was about to change the life of Salim too; she had got married with the son of Utbe the mighty man of Quraysh.

Following that marriage when she was going to Mecca, Sübeyte took Sâlim with her too.

Ebû Huzeyfe also loved the young Sâlim who was loved and cherished by his wife.

Meanwhile the Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon him) had received divine inspiration and with his family Ebû Huzeyfe (May Allah be pleased with them all) had also taken his place among those who ran to Islam the first.

The preference of Sâlim didn’t become different either. He joined to the caravan of the pioneers too.

  3. His Holiness Ebû Huzeyfe caused his Holiness Sâlim meet his freedom and adopted him just as the Messenger of Allah did for Zeyd. From that day forth everyone was seeing him as the son of Ebû Huzeyfe. This situation had just continued until the Verse pronouncing the adopted ones’ being obliged to be attributed to their own fathers arrived.

The doors of a different world that he could not even imagine had been slightly opened for Sâlim who was the subject of yesterday’s markets. Hereinafter his life was, focused on the world of our Master (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon him) and Quran-centered all the time.

The Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon Him) had announced him as the brother of Ebû Ubeyde (May Allah be pleased with him) and debited him to someone from the ten with glad tidings of paradise against the oppression of Meccans.

  4. Rabbimden niyazim kaleminizin don nefesinize kadar susmamasidir. Gonullere insirah saran, kalbleri titreten yazilariniz cok onemli. Rabbim sizlere saglik ve huzur versin ins.

  5. When Ebû Huzeyfe (May Allah be pleased with him), who felt suffocated against the oppressions of the elites of Umayyad such as his sister Hind and first of all his father Utbe, was immigrating to Habeşistan his Holiness Sâlim was beside him too.

The status difference of yesterday had just been history and in future his Holiness Sâlim had become an important person who was well-known and highly regarded.

After the immigration to Medîna, he had become the Imam of the comunity at which the leaders such as Ömer and Ebû Seleme were present, until the moment the Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon Him) arrived it was him who had led the prayer of the immigrants.

  6. He had advanced so rapidly that one day the Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon Him) had ordered by mentioning his name too:
“Extract Quran from those four persons: Übeyy İbn-i Ka’b, Muâz İbn-i Cebel, Sâlim freed by Ebû Huzeyfe and Abdullah İbn-i Mes’ûd!”

He hereby was one of the head professors of Quran lectern!

    While entering the House of Felicity, Our Mother Âişe (May Allah be pleased with her) who heard a voice integrated with Quran had been all ears and gone to the Masjid where the voice came from;
His Holiness Sâlim (May Allah be pleased with him) was reciting the Quran who had become incarnate Quran.

She listened diffusively this whole-hearted reciting and when she came back to her compartment finally, “O the Messenger of Allah” she said. “In the Masjid a man was reciting the Quran; i have never seen someone reciting better than him!”

Her testification, the Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon Him) had also been pleased with and to see the person he wondered about they came to the Masjid.

Yes, as how it was said, his Holiness Sâlim was reciting Qur’an!

When he returned to the House of Felicity, “This is Sâlim!” he ordered and added to:
“Thank God who created those such as him among my believers”

One day, when he heard that the Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon Him) said that “At the day of judgement a lot of people, come with good deeds as the Tihâme Mountain; but Allah (Her Majesty and Highness) would invalidate their deeds and punish them severely.”
“May my mother and father be sacrificed for you O the Messenger of Allah!” he said. “How will we recognize those ones? I swear to Allah who sent you as the true prophet that me, i’m afraid to be one of them!”

Therewith “Hey Sâlim!” ordered the Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon Him). “They, perform prayer by fasting; but, when something forbidden by religion is offered to them, without fearing of Allah at all they commit it so that Allah wouldn’t accept their worship and deeds!”

  7. Ebû Huzeyfe (May Allah be pleased with him) had wanted to marry him with the daughter of his brother Velîd. The Mecca which heard of that, was almost set on fire that day; by hinting at his grandson “How there would you marry the daughter of mighty man of Kureyş with someone coming from slavery?” They were saying!

Those fetishes thought to be wiped out had haunted again

Like the Messenger of Allah (May the blessings of Allah and the peace be upon Him) married the daughter of his aunt (May Allah be pleased with them) to Zeyd İbn-i Hârise (May Allah be pleased with him) Ebû Huzeyfe also showed determination and regardless of who said what, he had dealt another blow to the icon of “status”.

His Holiness Sâlim (May Allah be pleased with him) was all the time beside the Messenger of Allah in crises like Bedir, Uhud, Hendek.

Without doubt this noble stance of him continued after the Messenger of Allah too.

To be able to settle accounts with the crooks promoting themselves as “prophet” they had also gone to Yemâme together with Ebû Huzeyfe. On a riot that the things got hot and shock was lived even though it was temporary he was one of those who knew what it really meant when he heard the voice “O Muslims! Grace the Quran by your good deeds!” of Ebû Huzeyfe. Because that was the symbol of a stance and was reminding how to stand on the front line not to be dispersed. At that point he took the flag from the hand of martyrized vexillary and invited people to persist on the line of Quran. Meanwhile he was reciting the verse translated as “There are so many prophets that a lot of people serving the Creator has fought beside them. They haven’t got loose on the way to Allah for what’s happened to them neither they have losen heart nor they have knocked under! No doubt that Alllah, loves those who are patient!”

  8. There were those who came closer to him that day and said “Hey Sâlim”. “We are worried about your life, we are afraid that you will be a martyr!”

He looked at their faces bitterly and “If i don’t take this stand today and if i leave the front line, what validity would it have that i’m a master of Quran, what a bad reciter would i become!”

What’s worried about did happen; he had waved it with his left arm as he lost his right arm that he hold the flag by a sword blow. But one sword was soon after thrusted on that arm too and he tried to hold the flag on between his head and his chest. With a difference that this stand of him whipped up the will of the army, the stand that was to be taken had been taken too; the fiasco was turning to victory!
When the dust settled he asked those who came beside him about his master Ebû Huzeyfe; they told him that he’d become martyr. His eyes were sparkling with joy; “Me” he said. “Please carry me beside him too!”

The first reaction of those who heard of his martyrdom that day was, as “One fourth of Quran is gone”

  9. Had bequeathed to trisect his property his Holiness Sâlim (May Allah be pleased with him); one part of it had to be spent in the way of Allah, with another part the slave had to be liberated and with the remaining one-third had to be left to those who set him free. After his martyrdom, they sent the remaining one-third to Her Holiness Sübeyte who loved him as her own child, who took him from Madîna and carried to Mecca and caused him to be honoured with Islam. The eyes of Her Holiness Sübeyte had been filled with tears (May Allah be pleased with her) and to that noble attitude of him she responded with another nobleness:

“We had set him free and so we don’t have any right on him!”

Following his Holiness Ebû Bekir his Holiness Ömer had done the same thing too; But there was not any change in the attitude of Sübeyte (May Allah be pleased with her) and therewith the lot of 200 dram left to the House of Treasury.

Has been not forgotten either in the following years his Holiness Sâlim (May Allah be pleased with him). So many those who know value and worth like first of all Abdullah İbn-i Ömer (May Allah be pleased with him) have kept his name alive on their children.

His Holiness Ömer (May Allah be pleased with him) who was drenched in blood with an atrocious assassination told so to those who asked him who the caliph would be after him:

“If Sâlim freed by Ebû Huzeyfe was alive, i would have placed him as the caliph!”

Doubtlessly his Holiness Sâlim (May Allah be pleased with him) is just one of thousands of his peers who has been taken by the hand and exalted while conflicting in the paw of greeds and has been hold in high esteem and grew prodigiously while falling into contempt under the feet. The destiny of many people who were about to be known as “Mevâli” (A specific name that is given to those coming from slavery in Arabian none Islamic culture) changed and they became the names of key points which would change the destiny of humanity.

Here it was the yeast of our civilization of yesterday and it had a consistence which aggrandized every human that it took by the hand.

Even though some want to muddy, the headwater still stays in front of us with the same clearness and texture

If everyone takes a Sâlim by the hand, the world of tomorrows would be perfect too!
